BroodMinder-CELL
We have designed the BroodMinder-T91 for those of us who want to obsess over our bees 24/7. This unit listens to up to 80 BroodMinders in your apiary and sends updates directly to MyBroodMinder.com. You can sit at your desk (or on the beach) and watch what your girls are up to. We include a universal sim card so that you can just turn it on and go.
In October 2024 we have reorganized our hubs a bit. The -T91 is available in 2 versions. See below for information on required MyBroodMinder-Premium subscriptions.
BroodMinder-T91 Weather comes with the T91 module and a solar shield. The -T91 lives inside the solar shield and is attached to a tree or post or sat on top of your hive. The -T91 has built in temperature, humidity, and pressure sensors that will report the apiary weather. Since it does not have a solar panel, you will have to recharge the T91 every 6 months or so. (See Battery Pack notes below).
BroodMinder-T91 Solar comes with a solar charging kit that means you never have to recharge the T91. It is placed in a weatherproof housing, therefore the T91 does not operate as a weather station.
-T91 Battery Pack - The battery pack allows you to recharge the -T91 Weather while it is still in the solar shield. Simply plug the battery into the charging port and put the T91 + Battery Pack back into the solar shield for a minimum of 4 hours. Do this every 4-6 months and you should have continuous data.
-T91 Magnetic Mount - The magnetic mount attaches to the bottom of the solar shield. The magnet is super strong and works well for attaching to hive lids for instance.
-T91 External Antenna - The external antenna helps if you have poor cellular reception. It is a bit pricey due to a special connector on the T91. We recommend that you chat with us if you are interested in this option and we are happy to give you more information.
MyBroodMinder-Premium is required for use of the -T91 hub. This is purchased and administrated from your MyBroodMinder.com account. More information is here. (Due to complications with billing, it is not included in the purchase price of the hub.)
SIM Card - We include a 10 year / 500 MB cellular sim card with the -T91 which should serve typical installations for over 5 years. If you need more than that, here it is.

Features
• As with your own smartphone in manual sync, the hub connects to devices in Bluetooth, stores data in a buffer, prior to sending it to the cloud through the cellular network every hour.
• The Naked T91 hub is delivered together with a SIM card and a silicon casing. It embeds a lithium battery that will last over 4 to 6 months (as for August 2022) in hourly mode. You can recharge the battery with a simple mobile phone USB charger.
• The Weather station version consists of a T91 hub installed within a weather shield. The main advantage of this version without solar kit is a lower cost combined with the opportunity to accurately measure ambient temperature, weight and pressure.
• The Solar version is delivered with a high quality solar kit including a 3.5W solar panel and a 2500mAh battery. All of it fits within a high quality IP65 plastic box that can be mounted in multiple ways. You will install the solar hub in the apiary once forever. Ambient conditions are also measured with this configuration although we do not recommend using them since they are not reliable. The box housing tends to overestimate temperatures over the day when exposed to direct sunlight (which is needed for the solar panel). As an alternative you can consider installing a dedicated weather station.
Installation
Typically, BroodMinder-Cell hub installs in the middle of the apiary, close to the installed devices and in particular internal monitors since they have the most limited range. You can mount it on top of one hive, on a pod or against a wall.
For the Solar hub verion take care to expose it to direct sunlight.
Then follow the next steps:
- sync all devices with Bees App before starting the Hub
- remove the orange silicon protection
- power ON the hub
- leds will blink green, then blue
- check on Bees App that transmission has been established. “MBM_last upload” should display the current date/time.
- install orange protection again, starting from the USB side.
- insert the T91 within the weather shield, solar envelope or any other protective housing.
